Recognition for brave young boy |

Today i had the great honour of giving a special recognition award to a young boy who, along with his mum, displayed great resilience and bravery during what could have been a distressing medical incident.
In July he and his parent visited their allotments to tend to their ‘garden’ -as he called it- growing all manner of vegetables. On the way in, and then some time later as they exited they were aware of a male who appeared to be asleep, but had been motionless for over half an hour. They made their way to the main road and flagged me down as i was passing on patrol. Due to this i was able to take swift action with the incapacitated male, who will be ok.
Despite being four years old, he displayed remarkable composure and courage in what could be a distressing incident. His parents are understandably proud of him and who have, in their words, been teaching him to help others selflessly, as he may not know when he would need help. A brilliant outlook to take, and one we need more of.
Today he and his parents paid a visit to Pear Tree Police station, with his own Police car toy in tow, and spoke with officers from the neighbourhood and response teams, as well as a look around a marked vehicle and how we use equipment to help people during emergencies, from first aid, to fires, to river rescues.
